Travel Guide

On this trip we will visit one of the most visited parks in the United States of America that due to its location houses a huge number of Birds that choose this destination to spend winter. The large amount of flora and fauna, as well as the different ecosystems found therein make it one of the best parks in the United States to visit.

In addition to the abundant Bird species that the Park houses, we must also highlight the Alligators, Manatees and the elusive Florida Panther that can be seen in the different sites we will visit.

Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical natural area in the United States (607,000 hectares) and has rare and endangered species. It has been designated a World Heritage Site, International Biosphere Reserve and Wetlands of International Importance relevant to all humanity.

It is located in the south of the state of Florida, mostly wetlands, although there are also pine forests and mangrove forests. The time that gathers more number and quantity of species is in the months of November to April which is the dry season.

We will also visit some of the public parks of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Biscayne Cay.

You can see a blog with the pictures taken in the reconnaissance trip of the area in 2018: Everglades

Health care and travel insurance

As it is a trip to America, it is highly advisable to take out travel and accident insurance because in the US, healthcare is very expensive and in many cases the patient is not treated unless you have medical insurance.

Time difference

During the winter months there is a time difference with respect to Spain of 7 hours less.

Climate

Being a subtropical zone, temperatures are very pleasant at the time we have selected for the trip. The average temperature of the month of February varies from a low of 20ºC. and a maximum of 24ºC. This is the dry season of the year so it is not likely to rain and the skies will be clear.

Recommendations

It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes such as trekking shoes and some light warm clothes in case it does a little cool in the morning. Although it is the dry season it is desirable to wear a raincoat.

Currency

The currency is the North American dollar which at the time of preparing this brochure had a share price of 1.0898 dollars / euro. Card payment is accepted on all shops but it must be bear in mind that since it is a country with a currency other than the Euro, the bank will charge a commission on payments made as a "currency exchange".

Required Documentation

Obtaining ESTA is necessary to enter the USA. The cost of it is not included in the price of the trip and is usually $ 17. You have to be careful with the website on which this VISA is taken and I recommend you use the following link: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov

To enter the country, a passport is required and with an expiration of more than six months from the end of the trip.

Dificulty

Low. The trips to the different observation places are made in vehicle and walks we will do have no difficulty as they are on flat trails.
