Travel guide

Our first point to visit Will be the surroundings of Mérida where it can be seen a great concentration of Black and Griffon Vultures. Then we will forward to La Serena to enjoy watching Steppe Birds like Great and Little Bustards, Pint-tailed and Black-bellied Sandgrouses, etc. We will also try to spot Golden and Bonelli's Eagles, Black Wheatear and Blue Rock Trush.

At dusk we will go to see how Common Cranes and Greylag Geese come to their night resting places.

The following day we will visit the Las Vegas Altas del Guadiana and the surroundings of Obando in whose rice fields we will be able to observe great concentrations of Greylag Geese, Common Cranes and Spanish Sparrows.

We will also look for some invasive species such as Egyptian Goose, Common Waxbill and Red Avadavat which at this time of the year they are in breeding plumage.

Climate

Being a trip already closed for certain days we can find in the month of October with sunny days and pleasant temperature, or rainy days and some cold.

Recommendations

It is advisable to wear some warm clothes although the temperature is usually quite pleasant at that time of year.

Difficulty​

​Low. The trip to the observation places is done in vehicle and there are no long walks.
